After a four-year break, the most important European defence and security technology fair Eurosatory was once again held in Paris from 13 to 17 June. Around 1800 manufacturers from more than sixty countries exhibited their products there, with more than 57,000 people visiting the fair. Among the exhibitors were also companies of the CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP (CSG) holding and the truck manufacturer TATRA TRUCKS. At the fair, the truck manufacturer signed a memorandum of understanding with the major Korean industrial holding Hanwha Defence.

At the just concluded Eurosatory 2022 trade fair, a number of brand new products, some of which had their world premiere, were presented to experts and the public. It can be mentioned, for example, the new KF51 Panther tank by Rheinmetall or the new version of the EMBT tank by the KNDS holding, as well as the Boxer tracked armored vehicle by KMW or the new Merlin light combat vehicle by the GDELS corporation. Three new products in the world premieres were also presented by the companies of the CSG holding and TATRA TRUCKS. Their joint exhibition was the largest Czech stand at this prestigious fair and was one of the largest exhibitions in comparison with world producers. "CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP considers Eurosatory to be a key trade fair for the presentation of our products in Europe. That is one of the reasons why we have the largest exposition of all Czech exhibitors," explained Michal Strnad, owner of the CSG holding. EXCALIBUR ARMY, TATRA TRUCKS, ELDIS, RETIA, MSM GROUP and EXCALIBUR INTERNATIONAL presented themselves at the stand.

The main world premiere at the CSG stand was the new wheeled self-propelled howitzer MORANA. The ceremonial revelation of the howitzer took place on Monday morning with the participation of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to France Michel Fleischmann, Deputy Minister of Defence Tomáš Kopečný and President of the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic Jiří Hynek. MORANA is another product in the portfolio of modern self-propelled howitzers produced by EXCALIBUR ARMY. "It is very good that there are companies in the Czech Republic that can develop and produce weapon systems that contribute to the security of our country and Europe," Ambassador Michel Fleischmann said on the occasion of the unveiling of the MORANA howitzer.

The modern MORANA artillery system on the Tatra Force 8x8 chassis has a 155/52 mm weapon located in an armoured rotating turret. It is a fully automated artillery system that is compatible with NATO standards. "To compete in the global defence technology market, we need to develop new solutions for the security of Europe and its partners. That's why we come up with products such as the MORANA howitzer," added Michal Strnad. The new howitzer has a modular solution, while the superstructure with the main weapon and the carried ammunition can be installed on various chassis, including tracked ones.

The second new product by EXCALIBUR ARMY was the tactical recovery and evacuation vehicle TREVA-30 built also on the Tatra Force 8x8 chassis. The truck is equipped with an armoured four-door cab of a similar type as the MORANA howitzer. TREVA-30 has powerful winches in the chassis and a new two-winding crane of the Czech origin with a lifting capacity of 30 tons. To move trucks, armored wheeled vehicles and other equipment, it uses an installed hydraulic fork in the rear of the vehicle. EXCALIBUR ARMY also introduced for the first time the Karancho carriage system designed for the heavy machine gun KPVT caliber 14.5 mm.

TATRA TRUCKS also brought a brand new product to Paris, which was presented in its world premiere. It was a heavy military tractor Tatra Phoenix 8x8 with a new armoured cabin, which was developed by the TATRA DEFENCE VEHICLE company. The new cab provides high ballistic and mine protection for the crew in accordance with NATO standards, and thanks to it, TATRA TRUCKS now has three model lines of trucks (Force, Tactic and Phoenix), which it can offer for service in the armed forces. At this year's Eurosatory trade fair, TATRA TRUCKS has also established a new partnership with one of the leading Korean companies operating in the field of defence technologies, Hanwha Defence. Representatives of TATRA TRUCKS and Hanwha Defence signed a memorandum of understanding at the CSG stand regarding cooperation on specific projects of military systems using Tatra chassis.

At Eurostary, ELDIS exhibited scale models of its flagship airport radar products – the RL-2000 primary surveillance radar, the MSSR-1 monopulse secondary surveillance radar and the commercially successful PAR-E precision approach radar. RETIA presented a mock-up of the multi-purpose 3D radar ReGuard for detection and simultaneous tracking of ground targets and a low-flying objects with a small radar cross section (LSS). It is suitable, for example, to protect point targets or important infrastructure, and is also well used in anti-drone systems. RETIA also introduced the unique ReTwis 5 lightweight portable radar for detecting and tracking persons and animals behind non-metallic obstacles.

Companies belonging to MSM GROUP (Slovak part of CSG holding) exhibited various types of large-caliber ammunition. It was an artillery ammunition of caliber 155 mm produced by the ZVS company, including training variants, as well as components for various artillery ammunition. In addition, Fábrica de Municiones de Granada (FMG), also part of the MSM GROUP, exhibited 105 mm and 106 mm artillery ammunition, as well as 120 mm and 105 mm tank ammunition, which meet all NATO standards.

EXCALIBUR INTERNATIONAL, which acts as an export agency representing CSG holding companies on the international market, also sent its representatives to this year's Eurosatory. The company presented its services and projects to potential partners and customers, and in cooperation with RETIA, it presented the MRAD air defense system.
