The Ministry of Defence made decision already years ago about a method of purchasing mobile 3D MADR radars from an Israeli supplier, Elta Systems, by means of an open tender, when it wanted to purchase till 2017 in total five 3D radars which would replace the existing morally and technically outdated radars of original Soviet design. Now it’s about the well-proved ELTA ELM-2084 radar system, which has been operated for already ten years within the Israeli Iron Dome air defence system, and thanks to experience from operation is being continuously improved and advanced.

Several administrative ambiguities, which have been investigated till now by the Military Police, prevented it from concluding a contract for the above-mentioned radars with a value of 3.6 milliard CZK. One of the problems also was integration of the radars into the Integrated Air Defence System of European NATO countries. This problem should be already solved; however, in case that after all the Israeli radars didn’t meet requirements for integration, the Ministry will have a possibility to cancel the contractual agreement.

As for signing a contract for the purchase of the TITUS 6x6 armoured vehicles, which originated in cooperation with TATRA TRUCKS from Kopřivnice and Nexter Systems from France, there was a problem with a price evaluation expertise opinion. The expert opinion for the price has been already solved. And now negotiations with a supplier are in progress. The Government of the Czech Republic approved an order for the purchase of the TITUS armoured vehicles for the needs of the Armed Forces already in the middle of 2017. Delivery of the TITUS armoured vehicles should also contain logistic and training assurance, i.e. workshop and service sets and spare parts, as well as education and training of technicians and vehicle crew.

The subject of the order is acquisition of 42 commanding-staff and connecting wheeled armoured vehicles, and 20 wheeled armoured vehicles in the FSCC (Fire Support Coordination Centre) modification, including logistic assurance and training. The assumed amount of the order is 5.7 milliard CZK including VAT, and other 950 million CZK is dedicated for five-year service support. The deliveries have to be realized in a period from 2010 to 2025.

The original supplier of the armoured vehicles was going to be the company Tatra Export, which however didn’t pass a security audit. That’s why the Ministry of Defence in August 2018 accepted a proposal to change a supplier to Eldis Pardubice, s.r.o., which is a holder of a proper security audit and gained a licence from a French manufacture of superstructures, Nexter Systems.
