Members of the Army of the Czech Republic are not only involved in the so-called Smart Quarantine, but are also helping, for example, at the Alzheimer's Centre in Jihlava, and more places are being planned. The army thus gives the public a clear signal that it is willing to help wherever it is needed. 

Since Friday, July 31, the Army of the Czech Republic has sent 15 professional soldiers to the Alzheimer's Centre Jihlava z.ú. to provide assistance. The Alzheimer Centre, which accommodates 95 clients, has a total of 40 clients and 17 employees who are COVID-19-positive, and other employees are in quarantine. This worsened epidemiological situation threatens the serviceability of the centre. Soldiers from the 42nd Mechanized Battalion Tábor and the 31st Regiment of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Protection at Liberec will provide direct care in the centre under the professional supervision of local staff for a provisional period of 14 days. Specialists from Liberec will provide professional decontamination work in the facility.

Our soldiers also help in the so-called Smart Quarantine. "The army will participate in the Smart Quarantine project in the areas of development prediction, decision support, active search for contacts, testing, including capacity management of sampling points, laboratories, quarantine management and related material and IT security to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic,”  said Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar after recent meeting of the Council. According to him, the soldiers will also participate in streamlining the process of deploying new IT technologies in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.

"The army has been a key partner and a huge helper for us in a number of areas, process management, integration, and the entire IT solution from the very beginning. So we are very happy that the army will really be part of this Integrated Central Management Team,” said Health Minister Adam Vojtěch.

In addition to setting up the Smart Quarantine system, the military has also been offering its people and equipment from the beginning. Two days before the end of the state of emergency on May 17, the army deployed 3,680 soldiers, 150 medics from the University of Defence were assigned to help hygiene stations, and 60 chemists in disinfection teams helped firefighters.

The government re-approved the deployment of troops in Smart Quarantine even outside the state of emergency on Monday, July 13, 2020. The maximum number of allocated members of the ACR was set at 68, namely 14 sampling teams of 2 people, 30 medics and 10 people for project management. Since the declaration of a state of emergency, the soldiers have transported 540 tons of material and drove for overall 114 thousand kilometres with 236 vehicles.
